  • Chicken fat; a condiment brought to North America via the cookery of Eastern European Jews. Good stuff.

  • A variation on schlock; material - songs, films, TV shows, plays - that are heavy on sentimentality and devoid of any redeeming social value. That which has no intention to ROCK OUT in any way, shape or form. If it's saccharine-sweet, it's schmaltz; if it's just flat-out offensive in its user-friendliness, it's schlock (e.g. Celine Dion's en anglais stuff).
