The range of one or two notes where a singer's tone coordiation changes, for example, when a man switches to falsetto. The vocal break occurs because the larynx needs to dramatically change shape to produce the very high and very low notes.
Most good singers learn to camouflage their break; however, yodelers emphasize theirs; it is what gives them their characteristic pop/click when they sing over multiple octaves.
