FIRE - CRACKER

Everything2 is a popularity contest rife with favoritism, elitism, and total control. I couldn't live without it

Thanks to: kthejoker, chiisuta, mitchevious, and panamaus. If you don't know why, assume it's for something really really really cool. Also, WiccanPiper, TheBooBooKitty...oops, I mean Passport, and craze for the hospitality.

Separate cars, across a wet parking lot

We were at the end. It was over, finished. But the night was cold, and I had a long drive home ahead of me. I wasn't ready for it to be over, even though I knew it was. As we left, and headed for the parking lot, I noticed the new rain that had fallen. The night was still, we were quiet, and the stars were obscured by clouds still hovering in the sky. I couldn't let go, as much as I wanted to. Her car wasn't parked next to mine. We'd met there, at different times. I seized my chance. We walked slowly, my arm around her shoulders through my jacket, her hand holding my other. Your smile was embarassed. Your fingers were dew-covered. I am still smiling. We got to her car. It was, then it was over. She smiled at me, gave me back my jacket, said goodnight, and I walked away, knowing the truth of the moment, relishing in the melancholy, the bittersweet feeling of finality, as it slowly accompanied me home.
