Ideas for e2 improvement:

Shut down all new entries and new users for at least 6 months (ie, all writeups locked until an admin contacted). Draft in temporary content editors to trawl the nodegel, editing all writeups that refer to deleted writeups, total spell check, fixing hyperlinks to sites outside e2, compiling a large Most wanted list. Every active user node audits at least 5 other active users with feedback.

Draft in coders for these improvements: 1. Automatic rewards for filling most wanted topics and quests. 2. A new page for readers and authors to display work with a tumblr or flickr gallery inspired format – ie, I have a page of favoured summer-themed writeups with the option for me to append a comment, one is also able to hop to other users who have added any of the writeups to their page. 3. Level 0 users unable to publish until admin have reviewed and okayed drafts.(Note, this is now in place.) 4. a feedback and tracking system for node auditing active and inactive users.

All admins, whatever their role, are asked to commit the equivalent of an hour a day to administrative work on the site. Can't do it for a couple weeks? Sign off the staff.

a small note about the Oz books: there are a lot of novels, plays, poems, essays in the public domain, which means they are out of copyright (or copyright free). works in the public domain can be published by anyone. all the oz books by frank baum that i am noding are out of copyright. i am noding them because i like them, and want to share them. also, i want to try to annotate some of these books, and E2 seems like a good place to try to learn to successfully do this. for more information about noding Etexts, check out Nodeberg. for many books noded on e2, start from everything literature. i also wrote an FAQ.
