The A-7D had a very succesful record in
Vietnam as a tough and very accurate attack aircraft. This single-seat aircraft can carry up to 15,000 pounds of external
armament including
bombs,
gun pods and
missiles. It also carries a
20-mm machine gun in the
fuselage. All of the
Air Force A-7Ds have been transferred to
Air National Guard units. The
Navy also flies the A, B, C and E models of the
Corsair II as
carrier-based attack aircraft.
