福井

Fukui is a Japanese prefecture as well as the capital city of said prefecture, after which the prefecture was named.

Geographically, Fukui is located in central Japan, in the region known as Chubu. It borders Gifu and Ishikawa prefectures to the east, Shiga and Kyoto prefectures to the south, and the Sea of Japan to the north and west.

Two famous sites in Fukui include Maruoka Castle, the oldest original castle still extant in Japan (constructed 1576), and Eiheiji temple, which is one of the largest and most famous Zen Buddhist temples in all of Japan.

Interestingly, one of the nine cities in Fukui is called Obama, and is home to the ruins of Obama Castle.
