in a house
, residence hall
, or even hotel
In dorms and apartments, usually contains overpriced coin-operated machines. (Here at Macalester College, it costs $1.75 to do a load of laundry, assuming it manages to dry fully without extra time.) Sometimes includes bicycle storage, vending machines, and even excercise machines.
In houses, often in the basement if it exists, otherwise usually adjacent to the kitchen. Sometimes combined with the utility room, so you can peel off your filthy overalls after crawling under the house in the same place you put away your drill and Cat 5.
Some people would consider a laundry room, especially the public sort, an excellent place to engage in coitus.
