Used for thinning or cleaning up
oil-based paint,
varnish, or
enamel or removing wax and grease from floors. Avoid using it on
asphalt or
rubber tile. It's stronger than
gasoline, but weaker than lacquer thinner.
Most painters usually only mix it with oil-based paint that's old or partly dried up. You could use it on
latex-based paint but really you can just use water- or if it still won't come off try something stronger like
lacquer thinner or
furniture refinisher.
A spare
coffee can with about an quarter inch of paint thinner at the bottom is nice to store brushes in for a day or so if you're unable to clean them at the moment.
