Product version 1.0. The version number which the majority of open-source projects do strive to reach and closed-source marketing drivin projects reach after the product can execute for two seconds without failure. Shortly followed by a 1.0 release comes version 1.1, which attempts to address all of the, "doh," issues found in version 1.0.

Marketing types usually try to cover their asses and reclaim face by pressuring the engineers into releasing version 2.0 before it is ready.
