BARrier Combat Air Patrol

An Air Force combat role designation. Aircraft on BARCAP missions have the job of protecting a region against enemy threats. This includes not only enemy air, but also ground threats. As opposed to DCA duty, BARCAP focuses on protecting a region in general instead of a specific target.
