Captain Carl was a character on Pee-Wee's Playhouse. He was a Boat Captain who occasionally came to visit Pee-Wee, usually bringing gifts for him. He was always quite sunburnt and disheveled looking. He was played by Phil Hartman (R.I.P), and he was among the most humorous characters on the show. He appeared in the first episode.

One of my favorite quotes was the little bit of sea shanty that he and PeeWee would sing:
