EFI is an abbreviation for
Electronic Fuel Injection. Most modern
internal combustion engine automobiles use it as the basis of their
fuel system, replacing the older
mechanical carburetor technology.
With EFI, a computer calculates the optimum fuel/air mixture for maximum fuel economy and performance under any given circumstances. It is usually possible to retrofit older engines with EFI systems, at a cost of a few thousand dollars.
