A charming children's book. It features a family of mallard ducks, and is set in Boston's Back Bay and Beacon Hill neighborhoods. There is a sculpture depicting the ducks in the Public Garden, and a commemorative parade every May.

Make Ways for Ducklings by Robert McCloskey (the author of Blueberries for Sal) was awarded the Caldecott Medal in 1941. The story is about a mother duck looking for a safe place to raise her children away from the bicyles, cars, and other hazards of city life.
