I am an ugly duckling, in my head. I don't believe that my hair or skin or eyes could attract anyone or anything; bees fly to honey. I can't even get flies.

But I'm beautiful to one person, at least. He loves me. I love him. And as far as I'm concerned, that makes me a rhinestone bird of paradise. I can think what I want. But the sugarcane glow that surrounds me, the love that makes me a goddess (at least in his mind, and sometimes mine)- that makes me beautiful.
