Simon was a small, quiet boy in the literary classic "Lord of the Flies". A complex character, Simon is often compared to Christ, as he never joins Jack's savage group, is extremely kind and patient with the "littluns" (helping them gather berries, for example), and is one with nature, often seeking refuge in his special place in the woods (where he comes face to face with the pig's head on a stick). Simon is also hinted at as suffering from epilepsy. He is accidentally murdered, brutally, by the other boys on the island when he runs up to tell them that there is no beast and, ironically, they think that he is the beast and attack. On a lighter note, Simon is also an electronic light up drumming game that was popular in the 80's. |
