We have a campuswide
LAN and access to the Internet and the Internet2 via a shared connection with other
Rhode Island higher education institutions. The Narragansett Bay Campus has a nuclear reactor and a research vessel, as well as a large number of large computers for collecting meteorological data.
The Computer Engineering Program at URI follows a curriculum known as ICED. Students create an entire system over the course of two years, from CPU to motherboard to compiler to networking system.
The Engineering department and the Department of Modern & Classical Languages provide a dual-degree program called the International Engineering Program, or IEP. This is a five year program which includes a six month internship. This program is offered for French, German, and Spanish scholars.
