steel pans. Described as one of the country's top
percussionists.
In the late 80s and early 90s, Yann Tomita was a member of the bands Tiny Exotica Boys, Rude Flower and a little more known Water Melon.
After 1992 he has released solo work under his own name plus aliases including Astro Age Steel Orchestra and Doopees. He has also collaborated with artists including Grandmaster Flash.
Tomita's music varies between steel pan -dominated lounge exotica, cute J-pop -style tunes and very experimental pieces using electronic instruments, turntables and sounds of nature.
