A funny British word for an "answering machine".
The only reason why I know this is becuase in Good Omens (by Neil Gaiman and Terry Pratchett) Crowley (a demon) traps Hastur (another demon)on the tape of an ansaphone.
It's also the title of a song by Pulp.
