Discrete manufacturing is one of two broad types of manufacturing, the other being process manufacturing. In discrete manufacturing one deals with individual parts assembled and/or machined in certain ways specified on a bill of materials. The end result of process manufacturing is an individual object or objects. For example using various parts to assemble a bicycle is an example of discrete manufacturing.
