Fraternities are social structures. I'm not too fond of them because of the stereotypes seen in media...experiencing them through parties has reinforced the stereotype.

It is a great network because most frats have chapters at different academic institutions.

There needs to be more diversity within frats...or is that a paradox because people usually bond if they have things in common.

While my thoughts on the fraternity system can be found elsewhere, I remember a saying that was a favorite of one of my fraternity brothers relative to the abbreviated form "frat".

    If you call a fraternity a frat, what do you call your country?
Since my patriotism was at an all-time low, he did not like my answer.
