The term "
alternative music" can still be used to
indicate something that is, well,
alternative. For example, in
Sweden there is the
Swedish Alternative Music Awards (
SAMA), which
features only "alternative music" in the form of
Electronic Music; mostly
synthpop, but also some
EBM.
Also, in Germany there is the Deutsches Alternatives Chart (DAC) which contains mostly the same type of music as the previously mentioned SAMA, but unfortunately also some hip-hop and other forms of not-so-alternative music.
