April begins, and this year it's brought the sun with it to Britain, somewhat earlier than one would expect for this sodden island.

I know it won't last, as do the many people who, like me, made a beeline for the nearest sunny spot. And who can blame us, after a winter of Diluvian rain? Having said that, it's only sixteen degrees out there. No wonder the rest of Europe laughs at us.

But don't be so quick to mock. Would you act so differently to me if you knew that come the weekend, you wouldn't see the sun again for a month? And did a helicopter land right in front of YOU on your lunchbreak?
