A
privilege often
taken for granted by some
Americans.
America fought for its
independence in the
Revolutionary War and won. They are
lucky enough to live in a
free country, and instead of taking
advantage of
freedom, they decide to try to
suppress other peoples'
freedom of speech because it offends them to hear disagreeable
words. See also
hate speech and
you do not have a right to not be offended.
May I remind you that a majority of the world population does not enjoy this wonderful freedom of speech? Instead of trying to gag your own people for this so-called "hate speech", why don't go try to give this privilege to other, less privileged people? Political correctness is wearing very thin. In most countries people cannot even speak their minds freely, never mind worrying about if it offends a few peoples' intolerant ears.
Only the suppressed word is dangerous. - Ludwig Borne
Censorship reflects a society's lack of confidence in itself. It is a hallmark of an authoritarian regime. - Potter Stewart
Books won't stay banned. They won't burn. Ideas won't go to jail. In the long run of history, the censor and the inquisitor have already lost. - A. Whitney Griswold
