mastermind by the name of "Michael Lynch" - a
thinly veiled reference to
Martin Cahill - and rather toned down from both the
reality of Cahill himself and the gruelling realism of John Boorman's
biopic,
The General.
"Lynch" is played by Kevin Spacey in an accent so abominable as to induce nausea even in non-Irish audiences. I cite myself as an example.
