In addition to various unuseful pronouns for all you self-loving people, me is most importantly the name of a package of text formatting macros for troff and nroff (and therefore for groff, too). me "provides a canned formatting facility for technical papers in various formats". A tremendous number of papers have indeed been produced using this macro package (in conjunction with tbl, pic, grap, and eqn, most likely).

Showing its deep UNIX roots, me is commonly used by Bell Labs^W^WAT&T^WLucent researchers. The style of text processing is generally more lightweight than LaTeX or even TeX; it emphasises the use of auxiliary programs (see the long list above!) which "just happen" to work together to produce the desired effect, rather than a single monolithic "solution".

Personally, like almost everybody today, I use LaTeX to write technical stuff.
