The limitations of human faculties make it
impossible to know everything about the
universe. For example, the eye can only see so many
colors, the ear can only hear certain
pitches. There are distinct degrees of clarity to perception and the discrete nature of these degrees means that the actual universe may exist on a far finer gradient.
The nature of thought is more complex than perceptive experience. So, the patterns that have any real possibility of approaching the
complexity of the universe are those that are constructed in the mind. To bridge the gap created between people by the limitations of perception the artist uses experience to communicate with other human beings on a level that approaches the detail and clarity of human thought and perhaps the universe itself.
So, it is necessary for any
artist who is concerned with meaningful
communication, to turn to the only art form that attempts to communicate to all of the senses through a temporal experience.
That art form is the theatre.
