Magnolia (idea)

I think I'm in love with this movie. I don't know for sure. It's the kind of movie I wanna watch a million times and make sure everybody I know that would have even the most remote appreciation for it watches it. But there's so many things that I loved about this movie that a four paragraph review wouldn't be proper... so I'll just list some of my favorite things about it.

• the out and out ridiculousness of Frank T.J. Mackey's (Tom Cruise) Seduce and Destroy seminar
• Phil Parma (Philip Seymour Hoffman) casually ordering porn magazines through a Pink Dot delivery service
• Luis Guzman as Luis Guzman: "I know anything about dairy recipes, and sports statistics..."
• Dixon's (Emmanuel Johnson) rap
• Stanley Spector's (Jeremy Blackman) protestations on What Do Kids Know? about his treatment that essentially cancel the show
• Quiz Kid Donnie Smith's (William H. Macy) desperate rant as he leaves the bar
• The "Wise Up" sing-along, that almost fools you into thinking everything's gonna suddenly turn around and everyone's gonna be okay
• the date Jim Kurring (John C. Reilly) and Claudia Wilson-Gator (Melora Walters) have and the way it feverishly disintegrates
• "And the book says we may be through with the past, but the past ain't through with us."
• a dog on a gurney
• recycling two-thirds of the Boogie Nights cast
• the frogs, of course
• ...and everything else I forgot.
