It's sort-of like everything 2 for your network. The beauty of it is that it can store anything--computers, software (ZENworks), people, whatever.

It is what Microsoft will tell you Active Directory is, but NDS actually works.

NDS is also better than AD because NDS now runs on Solaris, Linux, NT, NetWare, and soon Tru64 as well. It's the fastest, slickest LDAP implementation out there. Novell has demonstrated over one billion objects in a working NDS tree.
