"Rat" is also slang for a 454-CID big-block Chevy V-8.

Example: "Hey Jeb, check out the radical cam on that ol' Rat!"

The Rat competes mainly with the Mopar Hemi big-blocks and Ford's 428/429 and 460 engines.
