• James Boswell stalks Samuel Johnson in London. Johnson was a writer quite famous in his day but virtually (and deservedly) unread today. He once remarked that anyone who wrote for anything other than money was a fool. Boswell preserved Johnson's few bon mots in an unnecessarily massive biography of Johnson.
