BHP, or Broken Hill Proprietary is a massive Australian resources company that dominates the mining, coal and steel industries. It is known as "The Big Australian" because for many years it had the largest market capitalisation on te ASX.
Massive BHP operations have shaped many Australain towns such as Broken Hill, Wollongong and Newcastle. These operations have, at various times, employed many tens of thousands of employees.
