The
West Coast Conference,
WCC, is a
NCAA Div. I conference. Founded in
1952 it was formed as a
basketball conference among five
bay area schools and was called the
California Basketball Association. In 1955 it added several schools and changed names to the
West Coast Athletic Conference. And finally becoming the
West Coast Conference in
1990. Over the years it has added some schools and lost some too, but since
1978 its membership has remained unchanged. It has also added a variety of other sports including
baseball,
soccer,
volleyball, and more.
