If I were beautiful, don't you think I would know it?
There is no hidden beauty, that is bullshit.
Beauty is obvious,
beauty is loud.
It stands out throughout the crowd.
And with me as another nameless face,
I am not beautiful.
Every picture, every opinion,
every reflection and every description,
they don't say I'm beautiful.
And I check.
Shyly checking every mirror I pass,
and seeing the same thing.
I am not beautiful.
It is a fact of life, like gravity.
I don't question gravity.
I am not beautiful.
So tell me how you can look at me and whisper,
"Beautiful."
How can you look me in the eye and say,
"Beautiful."
When I look in the mirror I say,
"not beautiful."
But shyly I check every mirror I see
because I can hear you say,
"Beautiful."
