Mjöllnir

The symbol of Thor's Hammer is generally accepted as the symbol (or one of the main symbols) of Ásatrú, modern Teutonic Heathenism. The symbol itself is a stylized, double-headed hammer, with the head facing downward:

                 _
		***
	       /***\
*****
*****
*****
	  ____|*****|____
	 /***************\
*******************
*******************
	  \*************/

This is usually worn as a pendant around the neck of Ásatrú Folk, particularly those devoted to Thor.

The reason for choosing Mjöllnir is that Thor was seen as the god most connected to humanity. He is man's champion before the other Aesir, and so carrying his symbol is a sign of respect and alliance with this god.

Some, at first look, have mistakenly thought that this is an upsidedown cross. It isn't, though the symbolic nature of Mjöllnir is the same as the Cross for Christianity.
