With the way
television teaches the
children that
products and services are as
interchangable as
Lego blocks (which is true), it is
scary to think that the same
marketing techniques are often used for more
important things, such as
who to vote for or
what to believe in or
whether or not I should buy the 8 year old an uzi. So, what do you get when you take
teenagers who have
weak bonds to their
beliefs due to consummerism and add one
nutball with a reasonable sounding
philosophy? A
cult.
Of course, the
question then becomes, what is to do about the cult fodder America is
raising? Perhaps
formal,
traditional religion might not be a
bad idea for some of them. And on the other hand, one can always
stop watching TV.
