Richard Powers, a modern American novelist, lives in New York. His writing style, although slightly detached, is enchanting and cerebral. His works include:

Richard Powers is an Rhetoric professor at the University of Illinois at Urbana Champaign. Unless he commutes a helluva long way, he lives in Urbana-Champaign. He was also awarded the James Fenimore Cooper award for Historical Fiction for his novel, Gain.

Powers has a new novel about VR and its implications to meatspace entitled Plowing the Dark
